THE ACCOMMODATION

 

The Old Vicarage is a large detached house offering accommodation for 12 adults with learning disabilities. Nine rooms are found within the main building and a further four located in three annexed cottages - The Lodge, The Coach House and Parsonage Cottage.

 

The main house comprises of nine single bedrooms each with useable floor space sufficient to meet individual needs. The smallest of the bedrooms is 12.25 square metres. All rooms have an en-suite or a private bathroom.

 

There is a large fully fitted kitchen, which incorporates a dining area and a lounge area. The property boasts a large fully enclosed rear garden. The property provides off road parking for ten vehicles. 

 

The home has a beautiful, very large garden which provides an incredible space for activities. Within the grounds, there is a large log cabin which is used for Activities and as a ‘Club House’ for evening get togethers. This multi functional space caters for the diverse interests of our service users and offers the following facilities:

 

  • Two multimedia computers and printers with Wi-Fi for IT projects.

  • Projector and screen for light and colour - Used both as a sensory tool and for film nights

​

  • Sensory equipment, light projectors, black out blinds and comfortable seating 

​

  • A pool table

​

  • Games and dart board

​

  • A karaoke machine

​

  • A video camera and film making software

​

  • Educational resources for developing life skills e.g. learning about money and telling the time

 

The grounds  also offer raised beds, a large polytunnel, a sensory garden and a large chicken run.  

 

Situated next to the parish church of Hungerford and on regular bus and rail routes, service users have a wide range of facilities at their disposal. The Old Vicarage service users are provided with opportunities to attend Newbury College of Further Education, Mencap Leisure Plus Schemes, Newbury Day Centre and Link Up to maintain and improve their skills and independence.
